Man. denies allegations it harmed COVID-19 patient

Elaine Mousseau claims the Government of Man. and Shared Health are responsible for Krystal Mousseau’s death as she passed away from multisystem organ failure in an induced coma after being transported to the Brandon hospital. Mousseau claims bad planning and decisions, combined with a lack of the necessary medical equipment and properly trained staff, caused her daughter's death. At the time of Krystal Mousseau's death, Man.'s intensive care units were at capacity, with at least 10 new COVID-19 patients requiring intensive care every day. Man. states all decisions and actions at that time were made in accordance with the relevant statutory responsibilities and powers. The province also claims to have reduced the number of critical care beds in 2019 prior to the pandemic in a push to improve its Adult Critical Care Program.
