The provincial government wants to significantly reduce surgical wait times and free up additional spaces in hospitals, which will allow healthcare staff to perform other types of surgeries. Independent healthcare facility Canadian Surgery Solutions will provide around 3,000 orthopedic surgeries annually in Calgary through a contract with Alberta Health Services. The procedures will be publicly funded and the partnership with CSS is part of the Alberta Surgical Initiative to enhance the capacity for public surgeries, especially cataract surgeries.
