Twenty emergency operations centres set up at B.C. hospitals during the height of the COVID pandemic will be reopened as the province's healthcare system deals with surges in COVID, influenza and RSV infections. The health minister explains the post-Holiday season period is typically a peak month for the spread of infectious diseases and with base bed capacity in B.C. hospitals at 111%, the centres will ensure continued access to healthcare. At the province's busiest healthcare facilities, the province proposes allowing patients to be discharged on weekends to ease congestion.
