N.B. disability advocates call for safer, more accessible mammograms

Disability advocates are hoping for changes in N.B. when it comes to accessibility of mammograms. They say there are barriers to accessing mammograms which unfairly subject those with disabilities to increased risk and potentially worse health outcomes. The N.B. Coalition of Persons with Disabilities explains there exists several types of 'mammo-chairs' that can lift a person while seated and help them lean into the machine and that these chairs could be used for anyone with mobility issues. According to the New Brunswick Health Council, one in four adults in N.B. live with a disability.
