Ont.’s Health Sciences North launches video series to engage Indigenous communities

There are unique barriers and inequities in the province's north that prevent Indigenous people from getting the care and information they need. The animated video series features a family physician of First Nations heritage and addresses what cancer is, as well as the importance of screening for breast, colorectal, cervical and lung cancer. The physician works as the regional Indigenous cancer lead and initially set out to connect with communities and healthcare providers for Indigenous peoples in the area. Community members suggested having videos that could provide cancer screening information from a trusted healthcare professional. The videos are available in Cree, Ojibwe, English and French.
