Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) streamlined the multidisciplinary assessment form for its ER so that it has 70% fewer questions. The centre expects the shorter form will counteract the increase in adults visiting its facility for acute mental health and substance use issues and make the ER run more efficiently. Since 2012, the number of ER visits at CAMH grew by 70% to 11,878 last year. The form removes redundant questions, the CAMH explains, as well as allowing patients to pre-fill some sections prior to assessment.
