Progressive Conservative Leader Blaine Higgs says that, if he wins, he’ll go much further than the governing Liberals in rolling back a ban on chocolate milk and junk food at school fundraisers. Higgs says he will scrap the nutrition policy established by the Department of Education that supports "minimum requirements for creating a healthier school food environment in New Brunswick’s public schools." Higgs said he knows obesity is a problem - the New Brunswick Health Council says close to four in 10 children are overweight or obese - but he blames the cancellation of gym classes. He also wants to bring back tax credits for parents who enrol their children in sports.
