Alberta hospital awarded by Alberta Health Services for pain management program for children

The Bonnyville Health Centre was recognized by AHS with the President’s Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement and Quality Improvement for implementing the Commitment to Comfort Project. The program helps staff, parents, and patients work together to make a child’s experience at the emergency department easier. The kit helps parents distract and comfort their child during what could be a traumatic experience and helps them learn techniques such as using distracting toys, comforting positions, numbing cream, and things to say when preparing for a procedure.
