Report suggests Alberta Health Services' protocols don't properly protect patient data

An internal Alberta Health Services (AHS) assessment of the health organization's EHR system shows individual health data is vulnerable to outside security threats. The Alberta Netcare Portal, an electronic system that gives healthcare providers access to patients' medical history such as lab results and hospital visits, was found to have 11 "critical" security risks. These include an insecure system for database access, including the use of easily hackable passwords by medical staff.
