The National Research Council and Montreal startup Greybox developed an AI-enabled virtual assistant to remotely monitor patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and heart failure. The virtual assistant guides patients through tasks to collect medical data and provide advice based on the patient's emotional and physical state. For patients with diseases that require closer monitoring, the virtual assistant asks personalized questions on the patient's condition. Greybox plans to launch the diabetes, hypertension and heart failure virtual assistant programs in several hospitals for a commercial deployment later this year.
