Health Canada survey finds just 5% of parents have low trust in childhood vaccinations

A survey conducted for Health Canada found that 13% of B.C. parents had "low trust" in vaccinations, while parents in Quebec were more likely than others to be concerned about possible medical side-effects. Parents in Atlantic Canada (92%) and Ontario (89%) were most likely to trust vaccinations. Other results from the survey include:

• Men (87%) were more likely to trust vaccinations than women (82%);
• Eighty-nine per cent of parents with a university education believed in vaccinating children, while those with a high school education had the lowest trust at 73%; and
• Forty-eight percent have no doubts or concerns about vaccination, one-third have minor doubts, while 6% have many doubts but still get their kids vaccinated.

Health Canada adds that one in 10 parents refused or delayed some vaccinations for their children due to doubts and concerns.
