Alberta initiates efforts to support healthcare needs of gender minority communities

Alberta Health Services says a provincial advisory council is being developed to inform providers about the unique requirements of the LGBTQ community. This follows a census of AHS staff to determine the state of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. AHS' senior adviser of diversity and inclusion says a big part of her work is in educating medical professionals about the LGBTQ community. Alberta Health Services hosted its first Pride festival at Edmonton's Royal Alexandra Hospital.
