The Manitoba government accepted the recommendation from a 2017 report and will designate paramedics as a regulated health profession. What that entails is that it allows paramedicine to be a self-regulating industry, similar to doctors and nurses. Manitoba's health minister says regulations establish a code of practice for paramedics and permit them to establish their own college. To assist in this work, a transitional council was appointed by the provincial government.
