Revera believes market and researchers tend to overlook the diversity within the senior population. Its survey makes a case for the private sector to be more innovative to improve the aging experience. With Canadians living well into their 80s and 90s, the company, which owns and invests in senior living facilities, recommends companies rethink how they view the senior market. It held consultations with its residents nationally to learn about how innovation impacts the aging experience. It found eighty-seven percent of respondents think innovation could help solve many worries they have about aging. Other highlights from the survey include:
- 84% of older adults believe Canada's private sector can do more to improve the aging experience;
- Older adults aren’t afraid of innovations and are actively looking for products and services allowing them to live more independently and have more choice as they age; and
- There’s a tremendous business opportunity for companies to work with and design new innovative products for a segment of the population that’s growing, that has wealth, and yet is often overlooked.
