B.C. hospital testing technology linking to provincial prescription records

A hospital in Oliver, B.C., is testing a technology called MedHx to link its MEDITECH database with the province's prescription network, PharmaNet. The hospital says in the past, healthcare providers had to physically enter data about a patient's prescription drug history from PharmaNet onto the physician's report. It's hoped the MedHx will eliminate that step and enable care providers to verify patients' medications from a bedside computer.
