Scotland will develop a national digital platform to house all relevant information from patients’ health records and to be sure the information is integrated and available. The platform will allow role-based, secure access and specialist healthcare information. It’ll also allow for new products to be made available through the platform and the government is encouraging a broad ecosystem of development and suppliers. The strategy commits to establishing a national decision-making board to support a national and collaborative agenda. The launch coincides with a report on digital health and care in Scotland by an external panel calling for everyone in Scotland to have access to a personal health record (PHR) by 2020.
