The not-for-profit healthcare system opened a virtual hospital called Connect Care Pro that combines the health system's 35 telehealth programs and over 500 providers and caregivers. It's the largest telehealth program in the U.S. and aims to help rural and underserved communities access specialized services while reducing costs. Specifically, the programs provide basic medical services, stroke evaluation, intensive care, newborn critical care and mental health services. All of Intermountain's 22 hospitals use the telehealth services through the virtual hospital. A total of nine facilities outside its network have signed up to use the system. The health system plans to offer the services to additional underserved areas and is looking to place telehealth kiosks in places like schools, homeless shelters, community centres and jails.
