Report calls on federal government to implement pan-Canadian drug information tool

A report from the Rational Therapeutics and Medication Policy Research Group (RTMP) on medication appropriateness and access suggests a universal drug information reference would reduce misuse and errors. Their research found gaps in the existing medication information protocols, particularly a lack of access when resources are available, poorly-designed reference materials that aren't doctor- nor patient-friendly and a lack of quality assurance for the various models. The RTMP suggests that Ottawa fund universal access to high-quality medication information that meets the needs of both healthcare providers and patients.
