Community support agencies call on Ont. government not to fund for-profit companies

The Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA) represents not-for-profit agencies that provide services such as personal care and home help, adult day programs, caregiver support and hospice and palliative care services. It's concerned that the Ontario government is considering allowing for-profit companies to be publicly reimbursed for performing similar services. The OCSA contends for-profit community support providers will place a further financial strain on the province's healthcare budget. As well, it states that its members re-invest surplus funds into improving and expanding offerings in the communities they serve, intimating that for-profit entities would sacrifice quality for increased revenue.
