The Ontario Health Coalition (OHC) will hold public hearings across the province as it seeks input on reforming Ontario's hospitals in the public interest. The OHC wants to hear about local and personal experiences with the healthcare system and the challenges people, their families and colleagues face in terms of providing quality patient care. The input will be used to help create a report, and OHC plans to use the recommendations to measure the political parties' healthcare plans leading into the 2018 provincial election. The OHC wants to hear the public's ideas about:
gaps in services

  • Improving access to care;
  • Funding for Ontario's hospitals;
  • Improving quality of care;
  • Improving public access to information and meaningful public input;
  • Improving public ownership and democratic control;
  • The impacts of privatization in the community;
  • Re-integrating services into public hospitals;
  • Ensuring hospitals serve communities (rural and urban, diverse ages, with cultural sensitivity and respect for communities' diversities);
  • Workplace safety; and
  • Other public interest issues.
