The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) established a program entitled Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Seniors, adapted from its basic MHFA course. The tool is designed help families, caregivers and seniors to recognize mental health problems or illnesses and intervene early. In addition to covering psychosis, anxiety, mood disorders and substance use disorders, the course adds sections on dementia and delirium, with information for caregivers emphasizing self-care. The MHCC says there'll be a two-day course offered to the public, as well as five-day sessions for trainers.
