In remote areas of Saskatchewan, nurses and doctors are wearing Google Glasses so that specialists in a tertiary care centers can diagnose and triage patients. The head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatoon Health Region says the province already uses robots as part of its remote presence medicine program. Using wearables, he states, should improve patient access to specialized care and decrease travel costs for followups. The Google Glass program is one location but will be expanded to all 17 communities with robots if shown to be successful.
