New Zealand's voluntary Health Star Rating (HSR) is encouraging manufacturers to create healthier foods, according to surveys of the country's supermarket products over a three-year period that's part of the study. The results show the HSR labelling system, adopted in New Zealand and Australia, is driving healthier reformulation of some packaged food products. The HSR rates the nutrition content of packaged food in half-star increments from half a star (least healthy) to five stars (most healthy).
