As the premiers meet in Ontario, the Canadian Medical Association and the Canadian Nurses Association are urging provincial leaders to keep health system reform as part of the discussions, despite the focus on economic issues. The groups are advocating for harmonized licensing systems to improve interprovincial labour mobility for health professionals. The federal government's One Canadian Economy Act includes provisions to recognize provincial and territorial licences at the federal level, aiming to ease federal licensing, but it doesn't mandate changes to provincial protocols.
