Public Health has confirmed a case of measles in the Sussex region of New Brunswick, believed to be linked to a traveler who passed through the area in late June. Residents and recent visitors are urged to monitor for symptoms such as fever, cough, and a rash, and to get vaccinated if they haven’t already. Those potentially exposed are being asked to self-isolate for 21 days and avoid in-person medical visits if symptoms develop. Health officials emphasize that measles symptoms can resemble seasonal allergies, so individuals should be cautious and seek guidance through Telecare 811. Public health is also rolling out more vaccination clinics in the area.
