More can be done to help countries meet breastfeeding targets, report finds

No country in the world meets all the recommended standards for breastfeeding, according to a WHO report. They found that only 40% of children younger than six months are breastfed exclusively, meaning they are given nothing but breastmilk, as doctors now recommend.  Aggressive infant formula marketing "dissuades many mothers from breastfeeding and weakens their confidence in their ability to breastfeed," researchers write.
