CMA providing grants totaling $75K for two telemedicine innovations

The Canadian Medical Association, through its subsidiary Joule, will provide $150,000 in grants to five physicians for their medical innovations. Included are the following projects:

  1. In the later-stage category, the CMA will provide $50,000 to the developer of ezReferral, a cloud based medical referral management tool. The grant is to improve the system to ensure consistency and simplicity when referring a patient to a specialist; and
  2. In the social initiative category, CMA is providing $25,000 to an effort led by McMaster University to use mobile tele-medical units to deliver care to individuals with serious mental illnesses and addiction issues, as well as elderly patients with mobility issues.
