N.B. Nurse Union claims nurses shouldn’t be named in negligence lawsuit

A lawsuit, which accuses the Horizon Health Network staff of reckless and outrageous acts and omissions after Darrell Mesheau was found unresponsive following seven hours in an ER waiting room, also names two nurses. Paula Doucet, the president of the N.B. Nurses Union, says nurses shouldn’t be to blame as the province is experiencing a severe nursing shortage. Many of the province’s nurses now also fear being sued in the future. Premier Blaine Higgs is considering pursuing legislation to further protect healthcare workers from being named in lawsuits.
