Simon Fraser University will be home to a new medical school, set to open in 2026. B.C. is providing $74 million in funding for the project. The first new medical school in Western Canada in 55 years aims to address the province’s ongoing doctor shortage by adding more family doctors. The proposed curriculum for the school will follow a three-year competency-based model that’ll include a minimum of 130 weeks of instruction.
