Launched in 2023, the SeamlessMD app offers remote monitoring of recovery, allows patients to report their outcomes and provides care plans, education and reminders. The app was used for patients undergoing gynecological cancer surgery, colorectal surgery and bariatric surgery. Nova Scotia Health is expanding the use of the app to prepare patients for heart surgery and support them throughout their recovery. The app was shown to improve patient outcomes, reduce anxiety, decrease the number of patients having to visit ERs or be readmitted to hospital and allows patients to return home earlier.
