CARP concerned Pharmacare legislation will leave too many seniors behind

The Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) says Bill C-64, now before a Parliamentary committee, is too narrowly focused and provides insufficient coverage, particularly for members under private plans. From a seniors' perspective, the legislation creating Pharmacare is limited to universal coverage for diabetes drugs, devices and supplies. However, CARP notes the bill wouldn't include the full range of products available to patients with diabetes who have private coverage. The association adds public money shouldn't be spent on the 27 million Canadians with private plans and that the bill should focus on those who have no coverage.
