The organization is urging provinces and territories to lower the start age for breast screening programs to 40 for individuals at an average risk of developing breast cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is responding to emerging evidence and joins patients demanding more access to breast screening. CCS would also like to see all provinces provide the option for self-referral for individuals at high risk of breast cancer with a risk assessment even if age is outside of breast screening program window.
