Horizon aims to reduce ER wait times but target is four times national guideline

The health authority’s goal is to get wait times for patients triaged as being Level 3 or urgent down to 120 minutes or less this year. The Canadian Emergency Department Triage and Acuity Scale calls for Level 3 patients to be seen by a doctor within 30 minutes. Horizon’s performance dashboard shows the last time Level 3 patients waited an average of 120 minutes to see a doctor, NP or physician assistant was more than two years ago.
