Fredericton doctors say shorter wait times for knees, hips led to longer waits for other surgeries

Some doctors say the dramatic drop in wait times for hip and knee surgeries had a ripple effect on other types of surgeries, including cancer surgeries which are now double pre-2023 waits. They claim to prioritize cancer surgeries, many elective operations like gallbladder surgeries are waiting much longer. Horizon disputes the suggestion that cutting the wait for some surgeries is responsible for longer wait times elsewhere.
