Nearly four out of five Canadians believe the use of psilocybin is an acceptable medical approach to treat existential distress in patients suffering from a serious and incurable disease. Support for psilocybin is higher among respondents who were exposed to palliative care. Support is also higher among respondents who already used psilocybin. Canadian law prohibits the production, sale or possession of psilocybin. However, since 2022, a special access program makes it possible to obtain an exemption from Health Canada for medical or scientific reasons.
