NACI says older, immunocompromised people may get COVID-19 vaccine dose in spring

The recommendation says people aged 65 and older, residents of LTC homes and seniors living in other congregate settings may get another shot of the vaccine targeting the XBB.1.5 variant. Children and adults aged six months and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised due to an underlying condition may also get the booster. NACI says it’ll be especially important for people to get the XBB shot if they didn’t get one in the fall or winter. As of early Dec., only 15% of people in Canada received the XBB-targeted vaccine.
