The backlog comes a year after community laboratory services were transitioned from Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) to Dynalife Privately-owned Dynalife provides community medical lab services in Alta. but concerns are mounting over long wait times for appointments. The Health Sciences Association of Alberta says members are working overtime and extra time to clear the testing backlog and the added workload is contributing to workplace stress. To alleviate the issue, the provincial government is calling in APL, the arm of AHS that mainly handles requests from hospitals and urgent care centres. They'll be accepting hundreds of appointments but the health minister adds other third-party providers may be hired.
