The province, which is dealing with a chronic shortage of healthcare staff, will pay for 25 continuing care assistants (CCAs) to complete a two-and-a-half year practical nursing diploma at NSCC. CCAs that worked in LTC for at least two years will be eligible for the provincially-funded education, as long as they keep working full-time in N.S.’ continuing care sector for at least two years after graduation. The program will start in Jan. Classes will be online, with in-person labs at NSCC’s Truro campus.
