The Still Calling campaign aims to retain and recruit more nurses by painting the career in a better light. The New Brunswick Nurses Union (NBNU) says the last few years were challenging, pointing to the pandemic, staffing shortages and conditions. The campaign hopes to retain nurses by reminding them why they chose the profession in the first place or how it’s a calling to them. Thirty nurses across the province shared their personal stories about why they became a nurse. The NBNU says there are 1,200 nursing vacancies across the province and 41% of the province’s nurses are eligible to retire in the next five years.
