Horizon Health Network hospital projects improving ambulance offload delays

These projects vary across the health authority sites because of the differences between the hospitals. One of the 12 ongoing projects is an offload delay initiative at The Moncton Hospital. As part of the project, team leads are assessing patients arriving by ambulance to determine if they’re able to wait in the ER waiting room, allowing the ambulance to respond to other calls. Patient attendants were also added to tend to patients being transferred to the waiting room from ambulances, in addition to the attendants already working to monitor patients in waiting rooms. Other projects include patient flow centres to improve the movement of patients throughout the hospital, including the in-patient units and improving communication and documentation for diagnostic imaging for patients to receive results faster.
