The Partnership for Healthy Cities states that cities are uniquely positioned to fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and injuries by implementing policies to reduce exposure to risk factors. Vancouver was chosen for making public health data more inclusive and accessible by launching an online public health data tool that tracks population health indicators and for working with urban Indigenous communities to better inform data management. The Partnership for Healthy Cities award is supported by the WHO and a network of cities committed to saving lives by preventing NCDs and injuries.
