In an 18-month pilot project, the province will provide a 20% bonus for physicians who keep their family and pediatric medical clinics open outside normal working hours. Doctors Manitoba supports the move, saying it'll increase healthcare access. To increase physician capacity, Man. will fund:
- Forty additional undergraduate physician-training seats;
- Ten additional seats in the one-year international medical graduate program; and
- Thirty additional seats in the two-year postgraduate medical education program for internationally educated medical students.
The province also contributed $450,000 to a program supporting physician mental health.
