As part of the province’s plan to delivers healthcare faster, the program was rolled out in Feb. Pharmacy based primary clinics opened at 12 locations in N.S., offering assessments and prescribing for 31 minor ailments, for those with chronic diseases, as well as for prescription renewals and contraception management. The Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia says the pilot's exceeding expectations, with appointments fully booked. The success of the project means Phase 2 will be implemented as 12 additional pharmacies open primary care centres in May in underserved areas of the province.
