The University of Waterloo's School of Pharmacy developed the URinCharge app, winning a $5,000 prize from Pharmasave for innovation in pharmacy. Ont. pharmacists can diagnose and prescribe medication for several minor ailments but the program is voluntary. The app uses GPS to identify pharmacists willing to book an appointment with a patient experiencing a UTI. The developers note women's health is typically underserved by the medical community and the app bridges a gap in care delivery that's familiar to many women.
