More Canadians are looking for opportunities outside of the country to complete their medical studies or find training programs in their field to land a job. A Dalhousie University professor of medicine claims students who practice overseas have difficulty accessing postgraduate training in Canada and end up going to the U.S. or the U.K. and other countries instead of coming home. The professor believes Canada needs to widen the process in accepting students into medical schools as the country struggles with a shortage of nurses and doctors and hospitals are overwhelmed with the flu, RSV and COVID-19.
