The Burnaby, B.C. university would be the first institution in western Canada to open a medical school in 55 years. The funding will support curriculum, space and staff planning and the hiring of an interim dean to provide provide strategic leadership in the planning and implementation of the school. The school at Simon Fraser will open in 2026, with the first class of doctors graduating in 2030.
