Horizon Health Network spent $8.3M on doctor recruitment since 2019

The figures lead to believe recruiting new physicians is getting more expensive. The health network spent $8.3 million since 2019 on doctor recruitment, resulting in the hiring of 185 doctors, working out to $44,675 per hire. Since the beginning of Horizon's current fiscal year in April, the network spent $2,265,000 in recruitment relocation grants for 34 doctors, which works out to $66,617 per doctor. The data shows hiring physicians for the Saint John Regional Hospital was the most expensive, with $3,195,000 spent hiring 74 doctors since 2019-20. Horizon also spent over $1.6 million to hire 230 to hire nurses and other medical professionals since the pandemic.
