The money from the community fund is available to community groups and municipalities through a $2-million fund operated by the Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment. To be eligible, organizations must be a registered society, association, non-profit or charity or a municipality or chamber of commerce. Projects can include hosting community retention events, developing marketing materials or programs to make their community more welcoming to healthcare workers. The province’s Health and Wellness Minister says healthcare recruitment is most successful when people who live and work in the community are involved.
