The CRTC will use 988 as the suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline, the same three digits adopted in the U.S. Once active, Canadians will be able to call or text it and be directed to mental health services free of charge. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health will lead and coordinate delivery of the service. The CRTC anticipates the hotline will be live on Nov. 30, 2023.
