Survey shows money top stressor for Canadians, cost of food a major factor

The rising costs of nearly every aspects of daily living due to record inflation is taking its toll. The Leger survey shows 38% of respondents cite money as being the biggest source of stress for the fifth time in eight years, nearly twice as much as personal health, work or relationships. One in three say financial stress is leading to anxiety, depression or mental health challenges. The survey also found that 45% of those between the ages of 18 and 34 say financial stress is hurting their mental health. The increase in groceries expenses is felt most acutely across the board. Over three-quarters of Atlantic Canadians say rising grocery prices are having a direct impact on their financial stress levels.
